Getting paid by PayPal is only half the job — most people in Indonesia spend from DANA, GoPay or OVO. Unlike GCash in the Philippines, PayPal Indonesia usually does not offer a one-tap e-wallet cash-in. The reliable path is: PayPal → Indonesian bank → e-wallet.

Fees and options change. Paths below reflect how PayPal Indonesia typically works as of September 2026. Always trust the fee, exchange rate and arrival time shown in the PayPal app before you confirm — not any guide, including this one.

Before you start

  • A PayPal account in your own name (same legal name as on your KTP and bank).
  • An Indonesian bank account you can link in PayPal.
  • Your PayPal balance, for example from a Kita payout. Kita pays in US dollars.
  • A verified DANA, GoPay or OVO account if that’s where you want to spend.

Step 1: Withdraw PayPal to your Indonesian bank

  1. In PayPal, open Withdraw / Transfer and choose your linked Indonesian bank (add one first if needed).
  2. Convert from USD if PayPal asks you to — many withdrawals settle in IDR.
  3. Confirm. PayPal shows any fee, FX markup and expected arrival time on that screen.

There usually isn’t a GCash-style “Cash In from PayPal” inside DANA or GoPay. Bank withdrawal is the standard route.

Step 2: Move from your bank to DANA, GoPay or OVO

  1. Wait until the money lands in your bank (timing varies; check PayPal’s estimate).
  2. In your bank app or e-wallet app, send or top up with BI-FAST / transfer to DANA, GoPay or OVO.
  3. Or leave the money in the bank if you don’t need an e-wallet.

What about fees?

  • PayPal → bank: fee and FX are shown before you confirm.
  • Bank → e-wallet: BI-FAST / in-app top-ups may be free or a small bank fee — your bank shows that.
  • USD → IDR conversion: PayPal’s markup is often the largest cost. Converting less often (larger balances) can help.

Common problems

  • Bank withdrawal refused. The name on PayPal must match your bank / KTP name.
  • No Indonesian bank in PayPal. Add a local bank account in PayPal first; e-wallets alone are often not enough.
  • Money still in USD. Kita pays in US dollars. Convert or withdraw when you’re ready.
  • Want a direct wallet cash-in. It may not exist for your account — use the bank route above, or ask Support if options look wrong.

Where Kita fits in
